Finfillment
Platform: PC
User Age: 10 - 16 years old
Release Date: 4/29/2024
Finfillment is a habit-forming app that empowers the user to create and conquer personalized goals and tasks. Users (aged 10 - 16) dive into a gamified experience where completing tasks not only boosts their productivity in the real world, but also rewards and decorates their family of vibrant fish in the customizable aquatic habitat featured within their fish tank!
Users are encouraged to come up with goals that they would like to focus on completing and apply them to personified, customizable fish that are backed by research to encourage success through using Gamification. I chose to research gamification for this project because it was one of the topics I was interested in and wanted to used Creative Technology and Design to explore. One of my other passions is game making, hence the development of the app using gamified pieces! Gamification is present through the graphics, layout, currency, and finally the achievement and reward system. I decided to choose adolescents as my main demographic because most of the the other half of my research went into researching how adolescents specifically form goals and habits and how my app will most benefit the child to tween demographic.
The process of Finfillment included lots of research and pivoting ideas, drawing and illustrating, designing layouts and UI for the app, HX / UX testing with users to cement the design, and development and coding to develop the base of the app in Unity. I had high hopes for this personal development but did not get through as much as I wanted to. I plan to continue to polish Finfillment after a short break from it in order to finalize the design and functionality aspect. For now, enjoy the progress blog as a short timeline through Finfillment's development life!
